BRUCE SANDERS was born on June 19th 1920 in Sydney Australia.  He volunteered for the 2nd A.I.F  in 1940 and served  in the 2/3 Pioneer Battalion of the 9 Division  until the end of 1945. He wrote home to his family in Hurlstone Park Sydney throughout all the war years. These are his letters. From the Western Desert to Far North Queensland and into the jungles of New Guinea and Borneo.

LETTERS HOME

During  6 years of active service in World War II, Bruce Sanders, a young soldier with the 2/3 Pioneer Battalion, corresponded reguarly with his family in Hurlstone Park – a suburb of Sydney Australia. Through battles and boredom, family life and death – this family communicated while Bruce travelled the Western Deserts , the Far North of Queensland and the Jungles of tropical warfare. These are his letters.
